A high-level scientific event advancing innovation and clinical excellence in periodontal and implant dentistry
The International Conference of Periodontology and Implantology (ICPI 2026) is a high-level scientific event designed to bring together leading clinicians, researchers, educators, and industry experts to advance innovation and clinical excellence in periodontal and implant dentistry.
“Innovation and Clinical Excellence in Periodontology and Implantology”
ICPI 2026 will focus on the integration of cutting-edge scientific research, advanced clinical techniques, and emerging technologies that are shaping the future of periodontal and implant therapy. The conference aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide an international platform for the exchange of knowledge, clinical expertise, and novel research findings.
Particular attention will be given to recent developments in digital dentistry, regenerative therapies, biomaterials, and personalized treatment approaches, which are transforming contemporary dental practice. By bringing together academia, clinicians, and industry partners, ICPI 2026 seeks to explore innovative solutions that enhance clinical outcomes, strengthen evidence-based practice, and improve patient-centered oral health care.
Integration of the latest scientific findings with clinical practice across all major disciplines
Exchange of expertise across borders, institutions, and disciplines
Focus on digital dentistry, biomaterials, and regenerative therapies
Bridging academia, clinicians, and industry for innovation
The conference is planned to be accredited by relevant professional and educational authorities. Participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance and continuing education credits upon approval.

Modern implant therapy focusing on evidence-based surgical protocols, prosthetic rehabilitation, and strategies to optimize implant success and longevity.
Advances in regenerative techniques aimed at restoring periodontal tissues, alveolar bone, and peri-implant structures through innovative biomaterials and biological approaches.
The transformative role of digital technologies in diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical execution in periodontal and implant therapy.
The growing evidence linking periodontal diseases with systemic conditions, emphasizing preventive strategies and patient-centered approaches.
Keynote and special invited speakers from across Europe and beyond
Periodontics, Implantology
Prof. Dr. Gil Alcoforado is a Professor of Periodontology at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon, where he has been a member of the academic staff since the 1990s. He previously served as Dean of the Faculty (2004–2010), contributing significantly to the development of dental education in Portugal.
Dr. Alcoforado’s clinical and research interests focus on periodontal disease, implant dentistry, and oral rehabilitation. He has authored and co-authored numerous scientific publications and has been an invited speaker at international congresses for over two decades. He is an active member of leading professional organisations, including the European Federation of Periodontology.
Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Implantology
Prof. Pertl obtained his MD from the University of Graz (1987) and his DMD from the University of Vienna (1991). He has held academic positions at the University of Graz, the University of Pennsylvania (adjunct faculty), and Harvard School of Dental Medicine (visiting associate professor), with postgraduate training at Columbia University and King’s College London.
His expertise spans oral surgery, implantology, and endodontics. He is currently active in private practice in Graz and serves on the boards of Austrian implantology and endodontic societies.
Oral Surgery, Implantology, Tissue Regeneration
Affiliated with the Medical University of Graz, Prof. Payer serves as Deputy Head of the Clinical Department of Oral Surgery and Orthodontics and became associate professor in 2014. He holds degrees in both medicine and dentistry and has completed international research stays in Zurich, Hong Kong, and Düsseldorf.
His research focuses on oral surgery, implant dentistry, tissue regeneration, and biomaterials. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and holds leadership roles in international implantology organizations.
Periodontology, Tissue Regeneration
Prof. Dr. William Papaioannou is Professor of Periodontology at the School of Dentistry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he has been actively involved in teaching and research since the early 2000s. He earned his DDS and completed his postgraduate specialisation in Periodontology before obtaining his PhD, focusing on periodontal microbiology and peri-implant diseases.
Dr. Papaioannou’s research spans biofilm-related oral diseases and evidence-based periodontal therapy, with numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals. He is a regular speaker at European and international congresses and an active member of the European Federation of Periodontology, contributing to postgraduate education and clinical training.
